Hello, I'm just asking for some help about Vista and my raid. My motherboard is a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum with the nforce4 chipset. I tried to install Vista x64 on 2*Hitachi 80go set in raid 0, with no success :( . That's why I installed vista on a former IDE disk.
I'm now under windows vista x64 beta 2 and i want to connect my raid0 device but vista just detect both disks but I can't access it : it appears in "My Computer" but it just ask me to format. I'm using nvidia raid controler, not silicon 3114 i think, and i don't now how to do.
If someone can help me :) Thanks a lot

Nforce4 and Vista
hi having a similar issue with nforce4. Initially i could not get vista to install on my raid 0 array on an nforce 4 mobo, was getting heaps of file system errors. I decided to install to my non raid hd and the problem went away. I have still loaded up all of the latest nvidia beta drivers in this new install, but the performance of my array is flaky at best. vista has slowed the transfer rate right down to pio due to multiple data errors and my drive has dissapeared a few times. array works fine in xp though. Im guessing it might be the nvidia drivers.
Has anyone else got this working properly on an nforce 4 mobo? are the xp raid drivers compatible? i dont really want to trash the array to find out the hard way....

It took me 2 days but I finally managed to get Vista x64 installed on my nForce4 RAID 0 array. I have the Gigabyte KN8E (rev. 1.0) board and went through a lot of pain before managing a successful install.
I had to download and flash a new BIOS for my motherboard. This gives additional options under the RAID mode in BIOS. Gigabyte had recommendations for changing some of the new options before installing later versions of the ATA RAID drivers.
I could go through the entire story but basically once I'd updated the BIOS and downloaded the correct drivers and instructions from nVidia it was simple really. Also, my install was a clean install on a dedicated RAID drive so the question about other OS's doesn't apply.
Make sure you visit your hardware manufacturers support site and download the latest BIOS/drivers. Visit the Forum/FAQ and check for advice about Vista installation. Once this is done, the rest should follow.
